Stay away!!!!!!!!!!!! It will save you money in the long run. Preds do not like over rev,lol

 

I've heard good and bad on cdi's. Hard to start, kicking back on the one way, and no difference from stock. I have an Advantage Performance cdi. I've used it for a year with no probs(kow). I do notice a higher rev limit and good power. They say they changed the curve, I dont think its noticable, but it does pull hard through all gears.

 

ok ill tell u this i bought one like 2-3 weeks ago it works good, BUT yes there is a BUT haha my bike wont start only on Pull starts SO if u wanna take the chance it ur thing, it helps my third gear a lil more ill tell u that and was great out at glamis i am selling it and getting a dyna.

 

If you put an aftermarket CDI on you gotta keep a fully charged battery or it WILL NOT start good in the cold. I have had a Procom for three years now and have heard all the stories about them. I think they are a great CDI if all you want to do is have some over rev. I took mine out this winter, due to not being able to start it and too cheap to buy a new battery yet (first year Ive had any trouble). The first weekend I rode without it, my buddy with a 450R asked if I was letting him catch me on the top end, so YES it makes a difference. When I told him I took it out until spring, he asked if I would leave it out, cause he likes having more top end then me. LOL

 

I've had a procom on for three years w/o any problems. Engine turns over a few more times when hot than it did with the stock CDI. Definately revs higher than the stock box and I have had no engine/valve problems. I'm not sure if they are better than the 05/06 model CDI's though. The 05/06 has a higher rev limit from the factory.

 

I had the punisher rev box on my 03 and I'd say that it was worth the money because the 03's didn't rev very high but I think I would just keep the stock cdi for 05-06. As long as your jetted right you should be able to run strong all the way through 9,000 rpms no prob.

 

i say on a 05-06 keep it stock..... i heard the stock cdi his 9300 anyway...... thats plenty i had one on my 04 pred... im not sure if they really help that much... its alot of mental gains..

 

I dont feel that I got any "performance gains" out of my Procom. But, I know I got 1000 more R's that assist my in running away from the 450's because I dont have to shift as soon. When I stuck my stock CDI back on, my buddy could slooowwwllllyyyyy catch me out top. With the CDI, he's toast.

I just bought a Procom CDI and installed it Sunday, Don't know how it runs yet Im going out riding this weekend to see the difference.I hate hitting the rev limiter all the time,Started right up though.

got the one from Nicholas Racing. It raises rev 1000 rpms with pretty good advance. notice a little.

 

Does anyone know why the aftermarket cdi's drain the battery or are so much harder to start?

 

I have the procom as well I had a problem with my first one sent it back no problem since then. Love it with my high comp. piston.

 

I never put one on my predator because my husband had one on his DS and it killed his rectifier and battery so It cost us a new one of each so I put a vortex on mine and I haven't got to get on it good but notice a difference just riding around the house.( I have very good neighbors but we all have over an acre of land and seem to leave each other alone.)
I heard the Vortex is the best pretty much you can get so that is what I went with. Hope that helps.

 

Went riding Satarday and tested my new Procom CDI,It worked awesome! never hit the rev limiter and pulled hard through the gears and at topend it had plenty! TLD_06_Predator you'll be happy with yours if you purchase one.Started right up everytime Cold or Hot...

Just keep in mind, they work awsome when your battery is good. I had my procom for three years and its just now giving me trouble. New battery though and problems will be over.

 

If it's below freezing when I try to start mine up it has problems. When it's above 40* or so it starts up just fine. I think it's because the battery doesn't like the cold- the electrons don't move around as fast.
