I am really thinking about going to buy the Predator tomorrow morning. My question is Would you guys do it again? Was it a smart purchase? Are you truly happy with your choice?
I have been researching for a while and it seems like the logical choice.Couple more questions.
Hows the aftermarket for the Predtor?
Is 5449dollars out the door before taxes a good deal?
Will it really beat a stock Raptor or Banshee in a drag race?
Has it been reliable for you?
Please be honest.Help me make the best decision.I am not a mx racer.I mainly want a fast, dependable, balls to the wall machine. Is this it?Will it smoke my buddys stock Rappy?Dont bs me.Should i buy it?Thanks for your help.

Yeah I would do it again its a great quad and I love it more and more each time I ride it. You have a good price. Mine was 5399 before taxes and everything. You will find some people paid alot and some paid a little. Prices vary from dealer to dealer but you have a great price. Hope you get it.

You wont regret it. I have ridden my Predator in the sand, desert, mountains and motocross tracks. It shines wherever I take it and the more I ride it the more I love it. I have a modded Banshee that I ride that is getting a lot of dust on it this year. You will love it.

eric,
your price of 5499 is a good deal. I paid 5800 before taxes, but that was in December of last year when they commanded a little more money as everone wanted one and not too many dealers had them(could not keep them in stock).

You won't regret it. It's an awsome quad, steering is great, has great power, it'a really fun to ride. I haven't had one problem with mine at all, starts in a touch of the button. Love to ride it. That a really good price to. I have 2 of them and thinking of getting another, but waiting to see 2004 models.

I did it.Bought this morning.Total price with tax and all was 5860!They have 2 left at the same price. It is Nature Coast Motorsports in Crystal River,Florida. They are the number one Polaris dealer in Florida three years in a row.The loal Polaris shop up the street from me wanted over 1100dollars more.It deffinetly pays to shop around. They said i was crazy about the free gear i asked for though. But they did throw in free Predator hat.Have to wait till later for my friends to get home so they can help me get it out the back of my truck and i can try this sucker out!
Did you guys change the oil after running the first hour?Did you drain the oil from bottom of crankcase or the bottom of oil holder? Thanks

The Predator has some tight tollerances. I would take it real easy on the break in the first hour and change the oil and filter. Then again at 10 hours with some reasonably riding. You can let it loose and go a lot longer after that unless you race. You should see if the dealer will sell you aftermarket goodies at a discount. The Pure Polaris slip on muffler, K&N filter and airbox mods from somebody like Rath Racing really add to the quads power (+10 horsepower). They are reasonably easy for a back yard machanic to do. I've done this to my Predator and couldn't be happier. I've owned all the sports quads of the past and am replacing (moving it down to the wife) a pretty hot 400ex with a 440 kit and all the other goodies on it with the Predator.

Already hit them up about discount on goodies.20% off:) So far the dealership has been incredible.I also told them the brakes would probably drag(they do)and they said they would find out whats up.We will see.Is it tearing the brakes up riding it like this?
The quad feels badass.I have been taking it pretty easy for the first hour but can still feel the power on tap.Sucker sounds much different from my old banshee.Im gonna change the oil tonight and hit it again in the morning.Do the motors sound a little funny?Like when you start it for the first time?Sorta tankish? After i road it a little while and then started back up it sounded alright. This is my first fourstroke so bare with me.
Seems like its real hard to find nuetral after i have road it a little while. If i shut it off and then turn key back on and turn on switch on it goes right in.
Makes some serious clunking noise if im in too low of a gear but if i shift when im supposed to its cool.
The fan will go on when i turn the bike off but leave the key on.It will stay on for 5minutes or so and then shut off.Should i leave the key on like this till the fan shuts off to help keep it cool?
All in all i can look past the small stuff and tell i have made a good choice. This thing handles sweet. It looks great. And i know the power is there. When can i start punching on this sucker? After 2 more hours of easy riding? That will be hard to handle.I can just tell it wants me to punch it:)No,it neeeeds me to punch it.Well you know what i mean. And thanks for all the great responses.Killer forum.

luv2rev............CONGRATS!!! Your gonna love thatquad!!! Just a word of advice..Do exactly what it says for your break in period, be loyal to oil changes if you want it to last, and expect your gonna see some of the little annoying things we all have on ours(chain, set coming off ect)..Most of those things have been cured or arent really a big deal, just a learning tool, and do LOTS OF READING here..theres tons of answers to alot of things here to lern from.Good to see another Predator owner......HAve fun!!! and be safe...Tina :)

That tight tollerance is the reason for the tough to find nuetral. It get better after some ride time. The chain slaps on the skid plate when you lug it. You can tighten it a bit to help solve that.

Congrats on your purchase. I also came from a Mod Banshee, I kept it though, I invested way to much money to let it go. You will be very happy with your Predator. And like everyone else said it is faster than a stock Raptor or Banshee. Pretty equal to a Banshee with pipes. Chain noise is a Problem most likely casued by the hard as rock slider and rollers. Keep it adjusted and it will keep the noise at a minimum.
