I have $400.00 to spend on my next predator part. I am trying to decide between a new carb(I'll kick in the extra cash) or shock rezzies or rath's rev box.

I know a lot of people recommend the rezzies, but I dont race and I ride mostly dunes and I'm not sure if its a good value for me.

I would rather improve speed. My closest friends have each bought new bikes in the last month and they all got different quads. a banshee with tr-6 pipes, a cannondale speed, a yzf450 and a ds650.

I was loving it when they were all on 400ex's and I was killing them on my new predator.

This coming weekend we are heading to the dunes to race them and see which one is the fastest. If I lose, I am going to have to come up with something.....

The new carb doesn't look like it's doing enough, so it's a waste of money right now as far as I'm concerned. I agree on the rezzies that they aren't all that necessary. I think the best mod is the rev box.

The Banshee will beat you every time once the guy learns to ride it. The Cannondale and the DS650 you will kill, and the YFZ, well, who knows at this point. :)

Not one stock banshee or lightly modded one was able to beat me this past weekend in the sand drags. piped raptors were the closest competition, except for the new yfz450, unless we raced well over 300 feet, they would beat the predators. The cdi will definetely help, if you only use it for the extra rpms, it is still worth every penny.

I'm talking about sand drags uphill. That's where 2-strokes shine, and so does the Predator's amazing top-end power.

Rob,
I agree after seeing the stats on the edelbrock, I wasnt very impressed, but what about the fcr? Its funny, because I hate this crappy CV carb...yet it actually performs well!!

You really think I'll beat the cannondale? I wasnt sure Ive never even seen one up close until today when he came over to show it off!!

And the good news is my buddy with the banshee is 50 lbs heavier than me and he cant ride it worth beans, so I should still be able to beat him.

I've raced a Cannondale that was modded to be just like the Moto and beat him soundly every single time. I even have it on video (check my personal website). Remember this is uphill.

Then recently, I did have trouble with a Cannondale, but he had made a lot of gearing changes. It was then a matter of whoever got the jump would take it.

I really like racing uphill because it really shows off how good the Predator's top-end power is.

Have you opened up the HMF pipe? It's very loud but you will need to increase that 155 jet and if you scrap the air box you will see the Preddyboy unleash some awesome power you didn't know it had. Invest $125.00 doing this and save the rest to see if your buddies want drop a wage on the weekend.Dyna-jet kit and open filter will definitly unleash some power with the few mods you already have. But you need to open the pipe up and jet it accordingly (170 in mine). If your in hookup turf then expect to be in the air when you gas it. Bill

I got the same problem. I think I'll get the CDI. I raced at Glamis up hill, pretty steep I thought. I beat everyone I raced unless either I missed second due to by bad clutch or they had a 20 foot lead. I raced a DS and killed it by several quad lengths, beat a quadzilla, he turned around 3/4 of the way up because he was loosign so bad. Didn't get the chance to race a YFZ450 unfortunately, next time I hope. THe only thing close to me was another Predator. I only have the WB slipon and KN filter. No airbox mods at all. I got the jet kit but not sure about the airbox yet. Everytime I had to keep in third gear and hit the rev limiter always and that was max speed. Bogged down too much in forth gear and lost speed. I noticed two things, one is Dune Tires, these make a huge difference and gearing. Otherthan that the CDI is probably the fastest way to increase the top end speed I hope. Not sure on how good it is for the engine to rev high for the hill race. I'm getting the Tires Extreme Haulers 22x11x10 8 paddle I think they are. Then I don't need to change the gearing. ANd some either smooth front dune possible. Least resistance and maximum paddle power. Both tires on .125 rims. If all that don't do it I'm dumping the airbox and put a slip on and rejet again. If that don't do it then BIG BORE time.

I don't think you will have problems racing the pred, it's one of the fastest quads there is. You have to race heavy moded quads to loose or f-up the shifting.

What about n2o? Hardrock sells their "dry injection" kit for $450.
