Dammit Im just kinda getting bugged now by this Polaris crap. I was just wondering if this has happened to anyone else. Today my friends and I went for a ride. Since my other Pred is messed up I took my other Pred out which is completely stock except for pipe, filter, sprocket, and cut fenders. Okay well we were all just riding around at this construction site near our homes and just hitting these little jumps that were made of big piles of dirt that they had bulldozed to one area. After a couple of times of hitting the jumps we decided to see who could jump the farthest. Well I was in 4th gear and the pile of dirt was no more than 5 feet high without any landing. I landed and I went into a freaken roll. I got up and looked at the **** quad and the stupid wheel was missing. Im not too sure about what exactly happened but 3 of the 4 studs on my hubs were missing/broken along with a bent axle. So Im starting to think that this thing is made of low quality ****. I guess its time to start replacing my nuts and bolts to some grade 8's or ti bolts. I wasnt even planning on spending any money on this one and I guess I have to start now cuz I wont be riding my other one for awhile:( Here are a few pics of what it looks like. It doesnt look bad at all. Its just the studs broke and came out. I plan on going to the dealership tomorrow and taking them the broke remains of the studs and asking for new ones. Along with a new wheel cuz this one is slightly bent from where it got pulled by the one remaining stud that was left and got stripped:(

Ya they were tight. I use a little tiny torque wrench for all my nuts. I've got my fair share of battle wounds:) Nerfs have helped a lot but I dont like em. So that is the reason why I have some AC Pro Pegs and are sitting and will be sitting in my room for another year or so before I put them on. I hate them. I got them as a present which is why I even have em.

Dang dude you are having the worst luck!!!

Can you tell if the studs pulled through the back of the hub? I'll admit I do NOT like the Predator's stock studs. They seem weak (they're aluminum -- that's part of the problem I think), and they're fine-thread. I'd rather have steel coarse thread because they stand up better to stuff like sand particles getting in 'em.

It makes sense that your axle bent since the wheel probably let go on impact and didn't absorb the shock. That's a shame too. I dunno what else to say other than I'm sorry to hear about it. Crap...

jsyi,
you may hate nerfs, but if you like jumping quads in forth gear, like I do, nerfs can be your best friend. I found out the hard way. I am just now starting walk decent (still have a limp) after breaking my femur and shot the broken end of it out the side of my leg tearing all of the muscle and tendons. This happened because of jumping (I was pegged out in 3rd) a large pile of gravel (about 40 feet tall) and flying like superman over the other side. I landed just fine, with the exception of, my foot slipped off of the footpeg. Had I had a set of nerfs on, this never would have happened. Of course, one could say if I wasn't riding that way, it wouldn't have either. Bottom line is, I was lucky, I didn't get an infection and I am going to keep my leg and I will regain my normal use of it. I am just about done paying my $975 in medical bills (thank god for me having health insurance), I will then buy my nerfs and try not to break my other leg!

Im starting to think these Polaris' are really crap. Well its like all the Disposable Korean built cars:) Use once and throw away.....I can say this cuz I am Korean:) I know nerfs will save my ass but I just dont like the looks of em. I am waiting for someone to make just the heal guards for em. Its like they broke off as if it were over tightened. But it wasnt over tightened.

When did the wheel come off, after landing and rolling or when you landed it? Did you land on that wheel directly?

After landing. I landed fine. There is no reason it shoulda come off. Regardless of how big of a boy I am.

I agree, there should be no reason for it to come off, but looking at the stud that is still in there, it doesn't look broken. If there was just one holding it on, that one would have been broken too. Looks to me like the nuts wern't on very well, and they backed off, or someone played sabatog (sp?) on it and loosened them.

I was kinda thinking that I mighta torqued them toooo much to the point right before they stripped off and when I was riding it they just broke:( Oh well the dealership said they would give me studs for it:) and the axle to because they had another axle that came off another that they did not need:)

Will they cover the hub and axle (if bent)?

I dont know if its supposed to be but my dealership said they would give me an axle and the studs. The reason for the axle is cuz they had one sitting around that they took outta a Pred and put some diff axle in. The hub they arnt giving me. But its okay. Im getting studs so that means it'll be rolling in a day:)

The stud issue may be a one of a kind thing. I took my pred off a 25ft cliff (not planned evolution). While the bike did suffer some extensive damage (both right front A-arms broke, steering linkages, shock broke, headlight and plastics. The wheels (all 4) stayed attached to the hubbs (the right font hub was attached by the break line). I think the machine faired pretty well when you look at the distance and height (then my landing on one front wheel did not help any).
