My Dad and I were on the ice riding and it was finally frozen so it was safe to go anywhere yopu want. We open the predator up and man do they fly but my dad had no 4th gear!!! Mine also lacked power but we took them to the deal and I will keep you updated. Anyone else that have had similar problems let me know, thanks.

The only prob Ive had with the tranny thus far is that the shifter is mounted high, I keep throwing it in neutral instead of the next higher gear. :)

Im runnning the recommended PS-4. Ill pay close attention next time I ride and report any other shifting probs to ya.

Oh, one more thing. You said yours lacked power? Now cold was it? You may have been running too lean. :)

Thanks for the info Red but i will post some more info when i get them back. They have been there for a week and they haven't done anything to it yet and there was 1 snowmobile ahead of me! Talk about good service... NOT.

Mdepdog your trans is telling you to downshift, don't ride it like that it's not good for the drivetrain or the motor, let the motor rev a little more.

Hello,

I was also out riding all day today, when I was heading home I lost 4th gear. All it seems like it does now is slip and catch, it sounds horrible, sounds like gears grinding together. Also it seems as if there is something rattling around in the tranny when its idling. I have less then 10 HRS on it so far. I dont know what could cause it, im using the recomended PS4 oil. Im gonna take it to my dealer tommoro.

Mine also lost fourth gear this past weekend, it seems to me polaris has something they need to make stronger, my dealer told me polaris is blaming the tranny problems on speedshifting, they made a freakin race bike how did they expect people to shift, hopefully they resolve this issue soon, I don't want to get my bike back and break it again a month later

Hey Rupe, just because some of these guys are havin problems with their preds doesnt mean its not worth it, these machines are awesome, and there probly will be some problems with them, i have had some minor ones(a little brake dragging, nothin big) but this shouldn't discourage you from getting a pred, I kno i wouldn't trade mine for anything.

I'm really wanting one as soon as I can get it. I really don't want to wait for the second production year to come out, but I must say, all these mechanical problems are making me nervous. I'll be buying mine with cash. I'd hate to think that I spent $6,000 on a machine that is always broke, when I could've spent the money one a KFX/Z400 or something else comparable. Know what I mean, Vern?
I still believe that the Predator is the coolest machine on the market, I'm just wanting to make a good decision, for once!

The pred is well worth it, dont let a couple horror stories scare ya. The main prob i have had is front brake dragging, but that can be helped with taking the shims off the back of the brake pads.
