Has anyone experienced steam coming from the hole beneath the thermostat housing I called my dealer, but he couldn't help and told me to watch it for actual liquid. So if anyone has seen this please let me know.

THANKS

I think pretty much most of us have seen this. Chances are your head is cracked.

The **** thing runs like a bat out of hell though. I guess I will have to get a hold of the dealer. Does anyone know what the hole is really for? Does everyone have this problem and has anyone fixed theirs yet? Also it really is a small amount. Its still under warranty so thats good I guess.

I've seen maybe one or two other people who get coolant out of the weep hole. That's fairly normal I'm told, but the steam part bothers me. Definitely get it to your dealer.

If actual coolant is coming from the weep hole, that usually means that the mechanical seal has gone bad. The coolant coming from that hole is the bikes way of telling you that its time to replace that seal. Easy to replace if you have the special tool to remove it. If you don't have the tool, then you need to be able to get to the back side of that seal and that requires taking part of the engine apart. The steam could be related to this, but i think its something else. It could be the problem that others have experienced with a cracked head.
Take it to your dealer and show them. Its to early in the life of the bike for this to be happening. They should cover it under warranty.

Ok first of all thanks you guys for the help, I just got back from the dealer which is an hour drive both ways and I guess I feel a little stupid oh well. The dealer told me that the hole is for moisture or water or whatever to drain out of the spark plug access hole, it doesn't have anything to do with coolant. I also live in a humid wetter area so moisture can condense in there I suppose, but when I saw little puffs of steam and the thing I feel stupid for could only be explained by a loose spark plug. So we took off the tank and sure enough the spark plug was a tiny bit loose, I guess if I hadn't gotten so nervous that I had to go straight to the dealer I would have taken the tank off and checked the plug myself oh well.

Thanks again guys and thanks RobG for the awesome site!

The bike is still the greatest and I feel much better now that I know.

I have coolant pouring out of my hole to drain water from spark plug, just below thermaostat. Has anyone had this problem? I feel like its either the head gasket or cracked head maybe, but no coolant in oil, and no white smoke out of exhuast. The service manual says to check weep hole below water pump for antifreeze or oil leak for either the mechanical oil or water pump seal but i'm not losing anything at all out of the weep hole below the water pump only below the thermostat. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

That's probably what I'll do, but I wanted some kind of direction if anyone had seen this issue before.
