I've noticed that several of you have kinda gone overboard with your signatures. PLEASE tone them down... they're WAY too big. One even went so far as to have Javascript and some other stuff running inside of it.

I'm going to implement a 500-character limit on signatures, so anything over that is automatically truncated. But before I do, I wanted to let everybody know so you can fix it first.

The idea behind a signature is to list your machine, any mods, and maybe a URL or two. Not lots of graphics, flashy animated stuff, or whatever else.

Basically, I'm giving everybody through the weekend to make the changes, and then I'm running a script that will automatically zero out any signatures that are longer than 500 chars.

All I asked was that you keep your signatures a REASONABLE length, and I think 500 chars is MORE than reasoanble. Some sites (Highlifter for example) have a 200-char limit. What you are doing with big, fancy signatures is making the pages load much more slowly, which impacts people on dialup, and also puts more work on the server that is already struggling to keep up with demand. I can't believe you'd be so petty and infantile as to pull this. Oh well, your loss.

If you can't accept the guidelines set forth on this site, then don't let the door hit you on the way out.

This is bound to piss off a bunch of people, but I have turned off signatures completely for anybody below the user level of "Moderator" (which means everybody except me, since we have no moderators yet) until I can write a routine to strip out HTML and implement UBBCode. Since people have chosen to still be obnoxious with their sigs, the result is that I must disable them completely.

It looked to me that everyone changed theirs to comply. I know jsyi and I did, so I don't know what pizzed you off Rob. Unless there were others that I didn't know about. I know mine was rather large, so I deleted most everything.....not sure what's going on.....

What got me was how some were trimmed down in physical size but then made to be as obnoxious as possible.

The point of a signature is to be a low-key place to list your stuff and maybe links to that stuff for people to refer to... not to become a personal billboard, especially when it impacts site and server function.

Then the rant by one user who "stormed out" like an agry child didn't help matters. I chose to simply do away with signatures until I can ensure that they won't be abused.

I just remembered, there are no other forums strictly for Predator owners. I don't come here to show off a signature or look at others signatures. I come here for the information and sometimes help with Predator issues without having to read through all the bashing that occurs in other forums to get to the information that i am looking for. Rob, I apologize. You run a great forum. I will be creative on my own time and in my own place. This is your show and I will respect and honor whatever rules you choose to enforce.

Thanks for letting us post stuff on your board as it is one of the two only strictly Pred boards on the net. I guess it would be a pain in the ass to have obnoxious people like me.
