Back in October I rolled my Pred on a MX track, it nose dived right into the ground bending the handlebars and cracking the fenders. I havent really noticed any problems with my steering stem until a few weeks ago. It wiggles around alot of I shake the handlebars, it seems really loose. Is there a way to tighten it or do I have to spend $300 on a new one??

I would just get a new bushing for you stem. You know that grease zerk directly underneath your handle bars? That's what you want. Mine got loose on me and I replaced that bushing. After that, the slop was gone.

I don't remember if I got a new zerk or not.... But it wouldn't hurt.

Just ran out and looked at the quad.... I did not get a new zerk! I just got the bushing.

take out your stem and get it straightened, i bet thats the most of it. when i bent mine from wrecking i thought it was the bushing, but the stem was so bent that it flopped around, 15 bux to push it out at my napa store. or free if i was home

Also Check the middle nutr that connects the stem to the steering system. Mine was real wobly too and found that the nut was coming loose. tightenrd it and the play went away.

The castle nut at the bottom of the stem comes loose. The four bolts that hold the idler arm bracket comes loose. They've caused me some problems far out on a trail one time. I replaced it all with grade 8 hardware and locktite. No more loose steering problems.
