Like the title says, I go into some nasty stuff with my pred. I want to change the intake tho, its way too restrictive. But on the other hand I still need protection from water and mud that I get into. Anyone know what I can do ? I want to do more then a drop in filter, but theres no way I could do a direct carb filter. I need a in-between full system.

How do you "mud" with the Predator? Just curious. Or do you just go through mud frequently?

i've found the predator does not really like the mud or water. i've had problems with the snorkel taking on water and getting into the airbox. i've also had it die in the middle of a stream ( i think something electrical got wet ). with the the stock tires mud can be trying also (maybe you have aftermarket?) at any rate let me get to the point - i to would like to modify the airbox but i'm very concerned with taking on mother nature. it's usually wet around here 3 of the 4 seasons of the year. maybe 1" uni vents prefilters installed in the bottom portion of the box would be best for us? :(

Ok well then to answer the first question. I go down some trails that are covered with a foot of mud and thats all it is for miles. Other trails are just muddy every now and then. I need something that can protect against the worst, something that protects as good as stock, but breathes alot better.

To answer the second statement. Ill always go through mud, if it messes something up, it will be sitting at the polaris dealership the next day, I buy my 4 wheelers to have fun, not to worry about getting dirty.

i understand where your coming from Brinker, but the manual tells you to basically stay out of water that is deeper then peg level. sounds crazy for an atv but if something gets damaged from riding though 2' of water, polaris will probably tell you that's you're problem. i certainly ride for fun too - not to look pretty!

i was thinking if a person could put 2 intake tubes on the air box and cut an outerwears to cover the opening it should draw the same amount of air as it did with one intake tube.
i dont know its just a thought. someone better than i will figure something out soon.

Its not "that" much mudding. But for instance, yesterday I went into a water hole, hit it doing 30 or so, and water went everywhere, quad got side ways and water was up almost above the engine. It was awesome. I was soaked and so was the quad. What I think im going to end up doing is get a drop in K&N filter and someway or another add another intake tube.

Well i also love rding thru the deep water and thick rich mud. But nothing will stop the 22/12.50 Spider tracs. I am about to install my slip on K&N andjust take the old air box out. I was making it today will designingit anyways. i think i will be able to make a guard for the filter and still let it have alot of air to breathe and when we go through thick mud and water just throw the stock box back on in about 7min. anyways what the hell do engine scoops really do and does it work. if anyone is interested in cheap protective gear for there predator or any atv look at the post abou 1/8th Diamond Plate skid plates. it is a very nice material. looks like chrome lt me know

My big problem is I want the Dual Looney Tuned Exhaust but it delets the airbox and I too love mud and water!

My wife and I had our first outing July 12th and after the first trip my Troy Lee was mud brown. :) The second trip cleaned it up a little cause we hit a big water hole last. :)

Too bad I wasn't good at water wheelies! I tried and all it got me was wetter. LOL
