I am reading use a 5-30 for the trans to shift better. Can that be any 5-30 or a special brand. I am guessing a synetic 5-30 mobil one oil. Please correct if I am wrong, trying to find out the correct type. Thanks to all.

You never want to use any oil in any quad that isn't specifically for ATVs or motorcycles with WET CLUTCHES. If you do, you will DESTROY your clutch.

Automotive oils contain additives that reduce friction, and this causes cluches to slip and destroy themselves.

So again, ONLY use oils specifically for ATVs or motorcycles with wet cluthes.

I use Castrol Act-Evo 10W40 (synthetic-based), which I get at the local motorcycle accessories shop. It's $16 for a four liter jug.

You can also get Valvoline 10W40 ATV/Motorcycle oil at most AutoZones for about $3/quart, but it's not synthetic.

Rob, I am a polaris dealer and have a source on the" inside" at polaris in the service dept. If I can help u guys out just let me know cause I have been personaly screaming for this pred. since like 1994 . Iwill say that the service/warranty dept. leaves a lot of the calls up to the dealer because these guys never see the atv in person< it could be a piece of **** or look like brand new. THE ONLY THING I CAN SAY IS BE HONEST WITH YOUR DEALER!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you lie to him he is not going to do you any favors (trust me) I have heard it all. A good customer and a good dealer will have very few problems if they work together with cool heads.

badchad i'm not supermechanic so please don't take this wrong. are you saying the polaris is or is not a dry sump? because i thought it is a dry sump lubrication system. in one of your previous post i do not understand your statement about the ow40 for dry sump sytem. i'm concerned because that is what i'm running. is the polaris 0w40 not good for the clutch?
