The Xplorer 400 is a heck of a nice machine... I'd love to find one I could snatch up cheap, but people seem to know what they have and don't let 'em go easily.

If you wanna go faster, there are some aftermarket kits for it that'll give you up to like 85 hp I think.

Welcome!

Put a pipe and clutch kit on that baby and she'll really come alive!

thanx guys ,,, but geezz,, i dont know if i want n e more out of it !! lol ,, the thing flys right along,,, when crawling around the woods and even on the trail ..hitting the gas on n e little grade what so ever the front end is air borne,,,, numerious times almost running into trees & rocks when the front end came down ,,,,,, the only thing i cant really say i hate about the machine is the SOUND ,, its sooo much like a ski-doo ,,,blahh

Jim does a pipe change the sound of the machine at all? , if it does ,,would prob like to pipe it just to get rid of that ski-doo sound ,,,

Yes, depending on pipe and silencer but its louder. Brappp...
I havethe HPD trail pipe and MSA (quiet core, forestry approved) silencer.

I hear the thinner Aaen pipes are "pinggy"

I'll make a sound clip over the weekend, i'll need an email addy though.

I had a 99, it was my first quad. I loved it, but as I got in to more technical riding I really disliked the swing arm. I bought a 700 in 04. I kept the 400 for a few months and then traded it in on a trail boss for the wife and kids to ride. Ir would go all day on a tank of fuel. I would say the range was easily 100 miles or more. Never really paid much attention to it. My buddy has one and it performs the same. Awesome machine.
