I just got my predator two days ago and I am wondering about lubing the chain. I picked up a can of chain lube when I bought the quad and I have seen guys set the back end on something and then run the engine in first gear to spin the wheels slowly, then they just spray the chain as it goes by. I guess my question is how much is enough? Should I douse the thing or just give it a quick spray? Thanks.

Quick spray. No need to soak the ****. Chain lube sucks though cuz it gets all crappy and dirt starts to stick and build up. WD40 has always worked on all of my quads and friends quads. Dirt doesnt stick to it and works the same. Some might say it doesnt work well but it does in my opinion for what thats worth

Yeah, I guess you could do it manuallly... but I kinda like the motorized 'more power' method. Plus, with the chain lube the dealer gave me (PJ1?) it comes out in a fast jet, if I dont move it across the chain rapidly I would be making a huge puddle on the floor. This is all new to me as I had a Sportsman 400 before and never owned any other toys with a drive chain.

I also use the pj1 and it shoots out in a quick stream. I usually put it in 3rd and then do it. But i just find wd40 a lot more convenienet.

WD40 should not damage the o-rings, but I wonder how much dirt it would attract and how quickly it would dry off leaving your chain not lubed. I think going through some water would just about do it. I just stick to the stuff that is designed particularly for lubing chains, seems you cant go wrong there.

prd115 I dont use chain wax anymore because it seems to have dirt stick to the chain. I use PJ1 now. Chain wax is a great product but i dont like that dirt sticks to it.
