What jetting are you using with Polaris slip on pipe & drop in K&N with 5 uni-vents? Can't seem to get it right. I'm currently running 167.5 main with paper filter and it runs great. Tried up to 175 main with K&N and it still missed at top end.
To get a better estimate of the proper jetting it would help to know your elevation and average air temp. Try a 165 main jet. With the mods you have the mains you have tried sound a little big. The miss on the top end is more than likely the rev limiter. When you add a pipe to the pred it makes 'em rev so fast they hit the limiter quick. If it accelerates cleanly and the miss is on top. It's probably the rev limiter. If it blubbers and feels flat it's probably too fat (too big a main jet). I know it's a pain but you can also check the jetting with the plug. it should be a light tan color. if it's right.
I'm at sea level with avg. temp of 70 degrees. I wouldn't think it was rich cuz it ran good with paper air filter, K&n should flow more air? I'm not using the foam pre-filter with the paper though. Seems like it runs bad too soon to be rev limiter(Almost right away after full throttle). I would think someone would be running this set up?
I'm running the same set-up, K&N Drop-in, W/B Silencer, 4 Uni-vents, with a 160 main and the DynoJet needle in the second slot from the top. I'm between 3000 and 6000 feet with air temperature around 80 and mine runs great until I hit the rev limiter.
im running a k&n drop in with the rath airbox mod and cfm in line cooler...i took the clip up one on the needle and it runs mint, no bog, better throttle response, runs cooler, made 52 rwhp on the dyno sunday!! i was amazed too bad they didnt print out the sheet they gay me a paper that said my rwhp and that was it..tLp
