How to disconnect throttle cable from carb?

24601 Views 2 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  modquad
I need to remove my carb to disassemble and thoroughly clean it. Problem is, I don't have a clue how to disconnect the throttle cable from the carb. Can anybody tell me (in detail) how to do this? :)

Thanks!

Loosen the throttle cable adjustment all the way on the cable housing, the adjuster is a few inches from the throttle lever under a two piece rubber sleeve. You want to make the cable housing shorter to effectively lengthen the cable. Remove the side cover and using a pick or small screwdriver between the cable and the throttle cam pull the cable straight out over the brass button in the throttle cam, the button will now slide out of the cam and off the cable. Unscrew the cable housing from the carb body.

On the choke, before you loosen it pull the choke full on. This will help keep the plunger from falling off when you unscrew it.
Don't forget to drain it first....kinda keeps things from flowing all over. Don't know if you know it, but there's a handy bowl drain tube protruding down.
