Dirt Wheels published that Polaris says the Predator, in stock form, makes 52 hp at the countershaft. At the rear wheels this translates to about 45 hp. Trinity and several other dynos have confirmed numbers in the 42-45 range, so this seems accurate.

eSuperBikeShop is the absolute LAST place I would trust for this information. For one, every dyno figure they have ever published has been WAAAAAAAY lower than any other dyno. For another, their so-called Air Force kit is a freakin' joke and a waste of $99. I raced a Predator equipped EXACTLY like mine plus the Air Force kit, and even myself and the other rider weighed the same. The only mod difference was I was on Sand Skate IIs and he was on Haulers. We raced four times. We tied each and every time. And if I'd had my Haulers on too, I woulda beat him.

BTW, weren't you the one that told me in IRC one night that the cure for my front brake drag was to soak my pads in motor oil???

Thats because Gary uses honest numbers. There are several thing you can do to get dyno numbers up so that they look good in magazines. I have the air force kit(along with pipe,K&N,14/38) and it hauls if dialed in correctly. If you only have the slip-on then you wont catch me. The guy you saw Rob must have had something messed up. It makes a big difference, trust me.

Hey guys I agree with with Rob I'm VERY skeptical of what the esuperbike shop says. I have asked Gary about cams and look at the answer he sent me. Basiclly he was saying that Web Cams and Rath don't know what they are doing. Web Cams for one has been around forever and I've used their cams before they worked great. With a response like the one I got, I'm not sure about the esuperbike shop. The idea behind a performance cam for racing is peak power, it's understood by all that you will sacrafice some on the bottom. It seems like they were just pushing the 580 kit. As for the ariforce kit, just add some vents to your box and re-jet it yourself and save $100, which can be put toward a pipe or ignition.

Cams???Gary

Gary, I've posted this question to you twice before with no responses. I know you're busy, but just a quick answer would be nice. Are you going to have cams available? If so, when and what are the specs.? Or should I just go to WEB Cams or Rath for a set. Thank you.

calm your horses my man. cams have not made it to the table for one reason. WE WILL NOT OFFER A CAM UNLESS IT HELPS POWER EVERYWHERE. anyone can make a cam, but we dont want to make a cam that gives more in one area & loses in another. out of every thing we do, cams are the HARDEST. unfortunaly, anyone can offer a cam, & 99.99% they suck. you will see a gain in very peak hp, but it is dead down low, & you will have to bump the compression way up just to make it drivable. the art of camshaft design is understood by few, but wasted on many. right now we havent found a total package that we are completely satsfied with. the predator engine platform was really designed to be a bigger engine. thats why the head pipe is big, big head etc, & that is why our 580 kit works so well. it is what really works in conjuction with everything else. the cams now are big, so we are just working on timing them for ultimate results as well as open & closing speeds. be patient, & dont go wasting your money.

Hey Pro if your buddy's Craptor was beating you it must be rider error. Sorry to say. If both Quads were stock the Predator should kill the Craptor. I've raced dozens of Craptors stock vs. stock the Predator eats the Craptor up no contest. Even piped and jetted Craptors will usually go down to a stock Predator. I'm not bagging on esuperbike shop or it's air force kit just take what comes out of the esuperbike shop with a grain of salt. The numbers they list DO NOT match up with anyone elses HP numbers (yes dynos do vary and dynos can be made to read what you want them to read). Also you may remember early on they promised all kinds of go fast parts, header pipes, CDI boxes etc.. what do we have an Air force kit which is simply holes in the air box and 4 jets. I say cut your own holes and buy a few jets. Then the 580 kit which may make power but look at the following from the Esuperbike shop forum. I think I'd wait until a few more big bore kits are out before I'd get one. There may be some bugs in the 580. We'll just have to wait and see how it holds up for those others who have purchased it, just my opinion.

MeyerZ/Predator 580 Results

Hey Meyerz, What happened to your motor? I thought it was running fine. My 580 blew a head gasket.

I have not heard from Gary himself but it's either a blown head gasket or cracked cylinder. My motor has been there since the 15th of this month and still no word. First a cracked head then this. With all this cracking and blowing going on I think my own head will be next.

I dont know where your riding but the Predator doesnt "eat up" the Raptor stock for stock. Raptor takes it off the line and then the Pred catches back up around 4th gear. I think most will agree.

Agreed rob, I beat a jet/piped/and intake raptor this past weeked. He hung with me until 3rd and I left him. One thing I will give to the raptors is they have some good low end torque. Because when we launched, he had trouble keeping it on the ground thru 2nd.

Hey Pred.19 your post:

"I dont know where your riding but the Predator doesnt "eat up" the Raptor stock for stock. Raptor takes it off the line and then the Pred catches back up around 4th gear. I think most will agree."

Not trying to start anything, but just goes to show the difference a good rider can make in launching the Predator in the powerband and not falling out of the powerband on the 1-2-3 shift. I think that you need to practice launching your Predator. When my Predator was stock I killed every stock Craptor I raced and most pipped/jetted Craptors too. Now that I have a few liitle tricks done it takes a built Craptor (cams head work etc..) to beat me.

Hey Pro, sorry didn't mean to offend, but you did say "my buddys raptor was spanking me" Which if both bikes were stock would mean that the Predator rider was not that good a rider. It's all good what ever you ride just race hard and have fun.

Thanks RJB. Pismo, no prob here but I know how to ride and I've worked/built enough quads to know "how to launch". I was just saying that with the stock gearing the Raptor will beat the Predator off the line and then it will be closer at the end. Theres no destroying one or the other. By the way, I dont ride on sand, so maybe theres a difference.

predator19 it is a very close race sometimes rjb gets me off the line and somtimes i get him off the. who ever jumps out in front thats who normaly wins the race. we have come a long way with are machines. his raptor and my predator will smoke stock raptors and stock predators and we do it all the time. most people are surprised how quit these to bikes are for just having ppes and jet kit. maybe i am bragging a little bit. but we got bragging rights. i will say i was not to impressed with the raptor untill rjb got it tuned in and it come alive.

Bragging rights make it all worthwhile right? Make sure and keep an extra mod or two on that Predator so it stays out front where it meant to be.
