Ive had my pred since february and already my clutch is starting to slip, and i know i havent been to hard on it, I'm sure i ride just as aggressivly as the next guy. but I took it into the shop for it and a few other problems including a loose ball joint, broken weld on the rear plastic mount, cracked rear plastic, and a leaking axle bearing. Now, I dont really care about the other stuff but they said that polaris wouldnt warranty any of the it, I'm really pissed off now cuz this clutch thing doesnt seem normal to me, and i know that other ppl have had alot of problems with the ball joints, and i'm pretty sure that welds arent supposed to break. by the way I bought the extended warranty but i brought it in b4 the factory one was expired so I still expect polaris to fix it. Lemme know what you think about this crap, any reply would be great. travis

I just bought my Polaris and the dealer did NOT recommend the Polaris extended warranty. They said that they have had too much trouble getting things covered, like in your case. They are currently trying to renegotiate a new xtended warranty with Polaris but they are not holding their breath on it. They are now looking for a Underwriter (or something like that) that you could purchase to serve as a xtended warranty, almost like an insurance policy for you quad if it should break.

Is your cable adjusted properly?

I had to adjust my clutch lever just after I got my Pred. Since then the shifting is less knotchy and it is easier to find neutral when the engine is running.

No its not that, I had to keep adjusting the cable up by the bars until i couldnt anymore, then I had to use the adjustment on the engine, but it just kept burnin up and I couldnt possibly adjust it anymore, and as for the warranty, It was still under the 6 month factory warranty when i brought it in to the shop, and as for the extended warrant, I just hope nothing else goes wrong.

I am with you, those things need to be covered under the factory warranty. The extended warranty should AT LEAST cover the clutch and ball joint but should cover everything. I would insist that they be fixed, or find a polaris contact and describe your problem and see what they say? That just sounds like BS to me. I would probably demand a refund on the extended warranty also, since you said it was covered under the factory warranty when you brought it in and that extended waranty obviously isnt going to do you much good.

I'm not sure about the clutch, but the rest of the stuff should definetely be coverd by the warranty, if the clutch is wearing prematurly it should also be covered. Your best option would be to try going through a different dealer because it sound to me that you are getting screwed.

I recommend calling the evansville suberbike shop about getting a barnet clutch makes just an unbeleivable difference in the way the bike shifts and as far as the other little stuff its up to your dealer if they want to warranty it my dealer warranteed ball joints, tie rod ends, and a cracked A arm. I should of tried to get them to warranty the broken mounts for the rear plastic, I tried to get by without them but now I have severely broken plastic

Call Polaris and complain!.... I too am experiencing excessive clutch cable slop.My clutch doesn't seem to be slipping per say... just breaking in. They will encage at a different spot untill they fully break in.But I too am almost out of adjucstment on the cable.Polaris seems to stock their dealers with ALL the accessories for the darn machine but ask for any support items like a oil filter...well they have to order it...and by the way, we have to charge you shipping.
