I have a stock 04 predator 500. When I bought the bike the carb was leaking fuel so I rebuilt the carb. It ran ok but hesitated when revved.

So I bought a new carb, I also deleted the fuel pump and went to a gravity fed system. With the new carb it revs great and seems to run good. However, when I rev it it'll come back down some and will stay there for 30 seconds or so then idle down. I've noticed that if I put my finger over the breather tube it idles down fast and if I keep it there it'll die.

I thought maybe throttle sticking but it's not. I'm not sure what else it could be.

Just in case anyone is having a similar issue and searches.

I fixed this and it ended up just being the needle. Put the old needle back in from the old carb and the hanging idle went away.
