I'm going to a 22" to get a little extra clearance for XC racing. I have 14/38 gearing now. Will a 13 in the front put me back to about that and offset the different tires?

13/39 would be the close to the same. With 13/38 you would close to stock gearing and 13/39 is about .5 mph slower top end than 14/38 and 20" tires

BOT, I race harescrambles (cross country) on my Pred and went down one tooth on the front sprocket right away as it was really too fast on these type of tracks. It was pretty good. About a month ago I put on the 22 inch holeshots XCT's. It is about the same in speed as it was stock now, but I am faster now and still don't slip the clutch in tight spots like some of the other quads do. I race every weekend and love the 22" tires as it gives me alot better ride and the clearance has helped a bunch too. Hope that helps you.
