This will be the first time I have ever tried anything like this. I don't mean to sound like a wussy but I'm racing in the veterans class. For my first time I don't want to get killed. This is going to be a Central America ATV MX Series race event, and I think the veterans class might be my best bet. I'm thinking of going down to an 8 inch wheel with an 18 inch tall tire. I also have a 13 tooth front sprocket. Will this help me get the hole shot? Help me not look stupid, any advice would help.

Good luck with that. I have one more week with a cast for my broken wrist I got from the MX track I ride on every Saterday. I was going to start racing but I got injured. In about a month I will do a race. Hope you get the holeshot and stay there.

Hold on tight and relax. MX depending on where you are riding Supercross or National Style track. National track you will feel alot more comfortable on than an MX extreme jumping people our sometimes not used to just relax and have fun. Dont get hurt I have lots of scars from mx. Hope you do well GOOD LUCK

Hey the 13 will kill you on power if you go down in tire size when you go down in tire size you are dropping gear by just doing that you need to go to the 18's and gear one tooth up in front that will bring you back to stock gearing and depending on the mods you have done to your quad that should be fine always start in second gear at the gate. any body tells you different will lose to you.
if there's one thing i know a little about its racing atv's been doing it for 14 yrs and 4yrs have been pro I just started racing my pred this year doing very well with it my other bikes are Roll Design and laeger 250r's
plus if you go with the 18 in the rear go with the 19 up front i run itp hole shot mxr's turfftamers are good too(in the rear).
good luck keep the rubber side down

be relaxed and have fun...mine predator kicks ass on the mx trcak except for in the whoops...i also have a 13 tooth up front and 39 tooth rear and this helps a lot..My lap times have been a lot better after changing to these gears..check out my profile for my MX pics!too bad i cant race for another 4 weeks becuse of my broken wrist...i was trying to pass a guy over a double while racing mx 2 weeks ago and we collided in the air and made me land sideways into the landing..really sucks for me i cant wait to race again

well by now you have raced your mx race hope you had a good time and if you didnt get the holeshot then you did not start in second gear. I have an mx race coming up this weekend at birchcreek in danville va. I primarily race tt with my pred but i am getting ready to buy another so i can race both mx and tt but have a pred for each because i hate swithching situps back and fourth. hey bobo you should make the trip down for the race on the 13th.
