So I just bought my first bike - a predator at the end of July - record setting heat waves in the desert were just not for me so where to ride - being in the San Diego area I looked for the coast - my search led me south...to baja in a town called San Quintin. About 4 hours south of the border out of San Diego - to a place called Gypsy's Beach Camp - $5 per night with hot water showers and a barn like 2 story resturant serving $1 menu tacos, burritos, and mexican beers. Riding area has something for everyone - directly off the campsite there are moderate to small dunes - perfect for me to learn on - and at low tide - all out runs down the beach for miles and miles - no closed areas - no BLM - saw a total of six other bikes for the entire weekend - there are major hill climbs south of the wet buzzard - dune riding and east of the wet buzzard are miles of trails if you like the technical stuff - and yes - you can ride the atv on blacktop in mexico only restriction being helmets! Awesome awesome awesome - am not gonna advertise this to anyone - only sharing the spot with my fellow predator bretheren - make sure you get mexican auto ins and insist on the extra medical coverage - it covers you in mexico even on your bike! The area is a bit remote compared to San Felipe or Rosarito - but if you want to ride - you can get your fill there, and not bake along the way - for those that like a bed a night cielito lindo resturant/hotel is .23 miles away and you can ride your quad to the front door. Will be happy to answer any questions - the ambient temp there for the Aug 8th weekend was 79 high 55 low - fog in the morn and bright sunshine by mid day! See you there!

As a matter of fact I did pick it up at moto pro - they simply gave me the best price on the bike period - I chose to keep my business local - the trip is and was completely worth it - I am completely novice at riding as this is my first bike, however I have been all over baja in my 4wd pickup - just don't have to beat the hell out of it now...heh. As a matter of fact we have already begun preliminary plans for a trip back to San Quintin approx 3rd or 4th weekend - just don't forget it's the wild wild west down there - and there is safety in numbers - your more than welcome to convoy with us - will be with a bunch of raptor owners (you know how those guys are) and a z400 I think I can I think I can rider. It is a small world indeed - I do know a debbie just for the life of me can't remember her last name ... as far as the predator - what can I say it not only worth every penny - it is worth several times the pennies I paid - all the years and trips out to the desert I never knew the .. escape that riding brought...it has been life altering to say the least. It's got something for everyone in terms of riding area - the dunes are miniature compared to glamis, however - they go on for miles and - there are some nice hills covered with the blow sand to the south...

Yeah we deffinetly are talking about the same Debbie...heh small world huh? Right now our trip to San Quintin appears to be in the works for the Sep 29-31 weekend - leaving friday morn. If you are interested - Debbie knows how to get ahold of me. So I turned the predator in for it's first service - something which included - chain tightening, valve adjustment, oil change, and chassis lube - well I delivered the bike a bit dirty and wouldn't ya know their $200 maybe bought me an oil change - none of the bolts on the valve cover had been moved - nor the access panels or gas tank - kinda evident when there is still a bid of blowsand on the bolts. Anyways goin down tomorrow morn and straighten all that out - they told me I had to have this service to keep my warranty intact, interesting deal goin on in the service dept....watch out for that!

Yeah I talked to her today - this place is so remote - and also don't forget we are going again at the end of sept - for this run I will probably camp although I won't be doing food as there is cheap eats there. As far as the sand tires, the terrain varies so much that you probably would damage them.
