Well after getting my bike back from the dealer for a service, i noticed that if i ran with my headlights on i would loose all power on the bike...once i turned them off..the power would slowly start to come back. You could hear the fan slowly starting to spin.

Anyways, i havent had a chance to bring it in so i've been driving it with the headlights turned off. Well i was out for a good run the other day and didnt have my lights on..needless to say it happened again. I was cruising along and you could tell the bike was starting to loose spark. It started to backfire and sputter..then died. It lasted for about 5min..then just started to work again. I dont know whats up..tried to look for wires that where grounding out or somthing. All i can think is the headlights sped up the process by draining more power. Hard to say..guess i'll have to get it back to the dealer..kinda a pain though..my 6mth warrenty is up, although i have the extended..so hopefully it will be coverd! My main arguement is that it did not do this when i brought the bike to the dealer, they pressure washed it, (still under 6mth warrenty) and when i brought it home it did it my first trip out with the bike. So hopefully they'll agree with me, that it happend during the 6mth period!

Check the battery connections.Neg and positive.Take them off and clean them, and reconnect.I dont like to power wash too muck water pressure on everything.I just wash with soap and water, dry and run it alittle to dry out. The dealer should know better.I think your manual tells you that.Take it back to dealer if you cant fix it they should repair for free. Where did you get that 13 t sprocket and how does it work with those 22 tires, enough low end for woods riding?

Yeah..i never use a Pressure washer..jsut a garden hose and my thumb! ;)

Anyways..i'll take it in next week when i get back from vacation! I did check the battery connections and everything looked tight..i even tried to tighten it more so..

The 13t i got from a local shop here. Its off a Honda dirtbike. Do a search, and somone should know..i just cant remember...XR650L or somthing like that.

It works good..i love it for the tight trails, but with the 22" tires im basically back to stock gearing, thats why i went with the 38t rear sprocket..lower yet..now its REALLY nice down low..very quickly into the powerband! ALthough top end suffers. Im running my stock tires right now and still the 13/38..its real low now..suffers alot top end, but it does what i need it to do!

Well had the quad in..nothing serious. It was a small grey wire back by the battery..i guess it connectes to the CDI on the quad. It was torn and coming apart. SO they fixed it..no cost to me :D

I had the same problem with my predator shorting out....I would be riding with the lights on and everything would just die....and then in a couple of minutes it would turn on again....i already took it to the dealer and he replaced the circuit breaker....the motor needs like 12 amps to run and when you run the lights and the fan at the same time it causes it to trick the circuit breaker....I had the dealer install the new circuit breaker and it is still doing the same thing....so the dealer is going to call polaris to see if he can add a bigger circuit breaker to it....I wonder if the dealer knows what he is talking about....it really sux to not be able to use your lights.

Yochy........Mine is doing the exact same thing.....when the lights are on low beam. It just goes dead (tripping the breaker) After about 2-3 minutes it resets and goes again. Let me know what your dealer finds out.....jim

I had the same problem. Would ride for 5-10 minutes with the lights on and the bike would die. Let it rest for a minute and it would start and run for one minute and shut off again. I t would only stay running with the lights off. The dealer replaced the circuit breaker that is located by the battery and it seems to have fixed the problem. I've ridden it about an hour since the repair so far so good.

Well out for another run tonight..NO HEADLIGHTS on..and the bike died on me again! it was a close one too..i was coming up a nice dirt hill, about to hit a jump in second gear and while going up the ramp i lost power, luckly i was able to coast over the jump and land it ok. But ****, this sucks..i had NO lights on..nothing else other then the fan was running. this is starting to piss me off..if i was going any faster i prob would have went end over end off the jump! Well i guess its back to the dealer i go! :( GRRRRRR

my predator has only quit twice due to electrical problems and they were both during races..The first time it quit was about 30 mins into a Hare SCramble race and i sat there for about 3 minutes losing positions(dropped from 4th to 7th) and the bike would just turn over until it finally statred..I was in 5th gear when that happened...The second time was also about about 30 mins into a hare scramble race and it quit for about 5-6 mins and i dropped from 1st place to 7th place..i sat there and at first the machine wouldnt even spark and i began to push against certain electrucal wires and the lights would flash and it started to turn over..then after abotu 5 minutes i pushed in the big wad of wires int he back and it finally started..i was able to ctach up to the get third overall and only lost to first by 38 seconds....**** ELECTRIC SYSTEM COST ME THE WIN!!!

Seems to be fixed. The two circite breakers where corroded. One is located behind the left side panel, the other is right in front under the front cab. They're little pouches, but if water gets in..:(
