This is a product right? What's the deal with the Predator bashing in the new issue - and past. It was sport quad of the year in three other magazines. And the pictures of the drag eaces are absurd. I have dragged several yfz 450's at Pismo beach, where they did their testing. And yes I do think the yfz is quicker (sorry guys) but I only get beat by about a bike length (and that was a bone stock pred). And the Predator actually goes faster on top, when the drags get longer. The yfz just tops out quicker. I have never been beat by a Suzuki 440 no matter what has been done to it. I guess if you don't pay enough money in advertising they can print whatever they want. I'm not bashing the othert quads - they are great, I just think that they should be more honest in their testing. Glad that's off my chest.

I completely agree... I was in my dealership the other day, I saw the magazine, opened it up to the same review, read a little bit, rolled my eyes and walked away. No respect for Dirt Wheels at all.

I actually e-mailed dirtwheels and asked when they were going to change their name to yamaha wheels. they have not responded!

If the yfz is faster than so be it, but why do they put the pred down so bad. Polaris built one hell of a good machine and deserves a little more acknowledgement for it considering it is there first stab at a true sport/high performance quad.

Ranks right up there with the lack of credibility of Dougie Meyer from ATV Television. Tuned it in tonight just to see what slamming he had on the 700 Sportsman. He even suggested that the Bombardier needed to be sent to Japan to get a better fit and finish. Then he had to spend the last five minutes of the show with his little insecure qualifications for how they judge. He tried to rape the manufacturers for ad money, those that went along, get the nod. Those that don't get slammed. What a KNOB!!!!!

What a bunch of bitches!!! I would like to open a 55 gallon drum of who ass on that **** dirty wheels crew. Sure the jap machine is faster. It makes me mad because i think the predator should of been the machine noted of when the world changed or whatever they stamped on the cover last month. Predator isnt totally race bred but its **** close. But it always seemed like the predator was "forced" to be mentioned or recognized. I hate to think to hard about this stuff because i love my predator, but i would love to walk in there and kick there asses so hard they could floss with my shoe laces.

I agree with everyone else I think the article is a load of ****. I have dragged against Suzuki 440s and have yet to be beaten. So what if the Yamaja is faster. Doesnt mean its better, I personally dont like the way it looks, and I feel cramped on it at 6.1 200 pds. The Predator fits me great and I love its power and the parts are coming out to hook up the predator, just look at rath and hpd and hotseat performance and hardrock motorsports. Well just wanted to say that dirtwheels owes polaris and pred owners an apology!

I too agree with everyone else, I have never lost a flat out drag race to the suzuki, no matter the mods. I've raced a few yfz's and they run good on flat ground, but on any slope or anything longer than the 300 foot mark they just don't have the power. The editors of Dirtwheels obviously dislike anything polaris puts out, maybe Rob could forward this entire thread to them so they can see what the average end user of the product has to say. Real world comparison takes precedence over any magazine article. I rode a yfz, and I do not regret saying it is a nice bike, but being 6"2" I also feel very cramped on it, and in stock form, it just does not have the power as a stock predator. Dirtwheels must be getting some pretty good sponsership money from Yamaha and Suzuki for them to put down the other obviously better bike. Maybe they should have someone compare them all stock vs stock and see who wins, actually, they probably did and when the Predator won, they had to start modding before they did their article. DIRTWHEELS IS A JOKE!!!!

Dirt Wheels is great bathroom entertainment. But they are overly biased on their reviews. It seems if it isn't a Yo-momma-ha, honda, or suzuki it isn't worth mentioning or they pick it too pieces with trival remarks, "too much wheel spin". No quad off the showroom floor is perfect.

I am so glad i am not the only one!! I just read this article yesterday and my girlfriend thought I was nuts because of how mad I got. Their review of the Predator was a complete farce. I could not believe the blatent bullshit they put out. My October issue of ATV 4 Wheel Action puts the YFZ and the Pred against each other. The YFZ did win, BUT the Predator did not get the bashing it got in Dirtwheels. The Predator did BEAT the YFZ in the drags in that mag. I would like to know how one mag gets some results but another mag gets such dramatically different results. ALL Dirtwheels does is SMASH the Predator with negative comments, and I think Polaris should step in and say something. I was happy to see this thread and see that everyone else is as pissed off about that article as I am. I don't care who wins these shootouts, I know the Predator rocks. I just wish Dirtwheels would stop being such dicks to Polaris and give us a fair and HONEST review. Thanks for letting me vent.

DW has had it out for Polaris from the get go. I hear they are not Polaris fans to begin with and they had there minds set right away that even if the Predator was a great quad or not, they were going to pick away at it...Thats IMO. and Im stickin to it.....

Dirt Wheels did a shoot out and measured the weight of each bike with a scale for each tire to see how each machine was balanced. The Pred's total weight "wet" was 444Lbs. Then Dirt Wheels reviews the yfz 450 say the weight is 350 "dry" and say the Pred is a needle bending 500 Lbs.!!!!

Again it is very obvious what Dirt Wheels is up to.
If I was in the market for a new ride and didn't know what Dirt Wheels was up to I would look at the Pred like it was an overweight piece of [email protected]#$.

I'm glad I got my Pred and am looking forward to puting a flat slide carb and pipe so I can smoke the YFZ 450.

Don't like the Edelbrock so I'm waiting for someone else to come out with one for the Pred, if anybody knows of one please email me.

I still don't get it, Polaris has a 2 page add in the same issue and they still didn't get the nod. Face it, dirt wheels doesn't compare apples to apples and Polaris's add money isn't going to do squat for them. Dirt Wheels is an embarrasment. I would rather see Polaris spend it's money elsewhere. At least with an unbiased publication.I don't care if the Predator is the best or not, just be honest.

I agree with everyone’s post here. I to was sick when I read the article. I don’t know if you guy’s read the Dirt Wheels article about 5 or 6 months ago. They mentioned that they didn’t like Polaris because Polaris wouldn’t let Dirt Wheels test riders keep a machine to ride all year long. I’m sure this doesn’t affect at all (ha ha) the way they portray the Predator.
ATV Action’s comparison was a lot more believable.

The issue about putting nitrous on the Predator just so it could keep up with the Reaptor was my last issue. You can only take soo much BS before you have had your fill.

Farewell Dirtwheels!

The only reason I still subscribe to Dirt Wheels is because it's easier than trying to cancel the subscription. Plus if I call up to do so, I'm just going to end up getting irate when they ask me why I want to cancel, etc, and I don't need the stress. :)

But when it expires, I'm done with them. I'm also done with ATV 4-Wheel Action for similar reasons. IMO the two best sport quad mags out are ATV Sport and ATV Rider, the latter being the better of the two. ATV Magazine (for utility quad guys) is okay, but I lost a lot of respect for the editors of that mag after seeing several episodes of "ATV Magazine Television." They come off as complete MORONS. They may not be, but that sure is how they appear.

Which brings me back to Dirt Wheels and another completely idiotic TV show called Fisher's ATV World. WTF is this supposed to be? It looks like a "photo album" for lack of a better term. No reviews, just lots of mud and hicks (no offense to any hicks on this site *grin*). And the guy who "hosts" it must be hyper or something because it sounds a bit too excited. And it gets me even more that the people over on ATV Nation freakin' WORSHIP him and his show. Gawd. They have a whole forum dedicated to him. But they're going commercial anyway...

Then there's Doug Meyer. Doug takes some getting used to, but I can see his point some of the time, and other times I'm throwing stuff at the TV. Still, I think it's the better of the three ATV-related TV shows. But you guys are right, it's all related to advertising dollars and that's what sucks the most.
