Hey everybody, I'm new here and I just got my Pred about a month ago. I am having a hard time getting my bike into nuetral after its warmed up. Is anyone else having this problem? Any ideas?

Yeah they all seem to do it to varying degrees. It gets better with more hours on the machine, but it still takes a little bit of work at time.

I dont have that problem on mine. I can find nuetral 99% of the time from 2nd gear or 1st on mine. My buddies predator on the other hand is totally opposite. We both have a problem getting his into nuetral but both of us can get mine into nuetral with ease. His gets a little better as it warms up but not much. Dont know though, just must be the nature of the beast..

Mine does it too, it will go into neutral easy if you shut it off, but it is a pain while it is running

mine was tuff during "break in" but after first hour + oil change it seems to be fine.

I have a lot of trouble on mine. It's easy when the machine is off or when I first start it, but it gets tough after it's been running for a while.

Mine does it a little. I have to say though, I'd rather not find N too easily when doing a fast shift from 1st to 2nd. :)

I agree with Sportzmann 100%!!! On my old 400EX, all too often I'd be in a racing situation and go from 1st to 2nd only to hit neutral. Really ruins your day when that happens. I'd be perfectly happy with my machine taking a while to find neutral if it'll never do that to me.

I just wanted to revisit this post, for a second. When I first got my Predator last week, I could shift into neutral with no troubles at all, actually it was very easy. I did my break in hour changed the oil and road a couple more hours easy. Well today was the first day I actually got on the throttle for most of the ride, when I bring it home to park I couldnt find neutral. About 5-10 minutes later took it down the street and back to te driveway still couldnt get into neutral even with quad off. Is this going to get better like it was in the beginning, should I call the dealer or just live with it?

Thanks.

Just roll the quad back and forth and it'll slip into neutral easy.

Mine seems to be okay sometimes, but then at other times, it gets hard to find neutral again too.

I see it this way... if the thing will never go into neutral when I'm racing and shifting from 1st to 2nd, I'll live with it. My stupid 400EX used to do that all the freakin' time and it drove me nuts.

So dose anyone know of an easy fix besides breaking in the machine. I put about 5hrs on my machine and I still have a terriable time finding neutral when the machine is running. I have to turn off the machine in order for it to find neutral. This is my second predator I own (Long Story) both of them had this problem from the start. Also I am getting a loud knocking noise coming from the engine when I shift from a low gear to a higher one. It is only for a breif second while I raise the RPMS it goes away. but it dose it bad when I down shift and then up shift quickly. It is real annoying, any thoughts? Some say it is the chain, others say it is a lose back brake. I am new to the quad world, only owned Honda 4X4's until I purchased this machine (Which I really enjoy) So i apperciate any advise one has to offer!
