I have the factory service manual and I can't believe that you can get the swingarm level using a tie-down around the axle housing. I've tried hooking a tie-down between my grab bar and the trailer rail, but I can't get the suspension compressed enough. Am I missing something here? What technique does everyone else use to get the swingarm level / adjust their chain?

I use a rachet tie down that you use to hold down your quad with when trailering. I rap one end around the axel and the other to the rear grab bar. Have someone sit on the seat and take up the slack. Then rachet away. It should come down pretty far but keep your chin away from the gtab bar when compressed just in case the strap lets go.

You dont need to remove anything. Just wrap the strap around the axle and the grab bar. Its simple.
