Hey Guys,
Took my Predator on a 4wheeling trip and began riding in Oak Ridge, TN at the Windrock ATV park. Rode for about 10-15 minutes and turned the motor off with the key to talk to a friend. Went to start it again and the starter wouldn't turn the engine over. It seemed like the battery was low and was just cutting out. So I tried to pull start it by rolling down a hill and popping the clutch and then tried jump starting it to no avail.

I pulled the two side covers and everything seemed to be in fine shape. There is a nut you can turn which will turn the engine over. I couldn't move the engine counter clockwise at all but was able to rotate almost a complete revolution clockwise and then you could feel something hit and stop the rotation. It feels kinda like a rod bolt backed out and is hitting something. So basically I can turn the motor about 9/10's of a rotation in one way and then it will hit and not go any further. You can go the other way until it hits again in the same spot...any ideas? I know the crank is two piece but I don't know what the inside of this motor looks like to guess on what is wrong. I'm really bummed.

At first I thought the engine was hydro locked. So I pulled the spark plug and still couldn't get the engine to turn over. Then I realized it was rotate clockwise and stop in the same spot. The starter worked fine when I pulled the side cover off.

I know it need to take it into warranty but wondered if anyone else had this problem?

Sorry you missed out on riding Windrock on your new Pred. I've had mine all over that place. If you can go back, I highly recommend it. I would recommend lower gearing, for climbing rocks and hills. 13/39 is best. Sorry this doesn't answer your question, but make sure you take that beast back down there, you won't regret it. Good luck.

Time to visit the dealer I'd say. I sure hope you're still under warranty. If not, then you have a great excuse to do a 580 kit.

At least that's how I'd look at it...

I did read something like this on someones else mach. That thier was a loose nut inside the case, that made it jam up. Put on a new one and never had a problem with it. I think I read it on atv.con maybe someone else can help me out.

Yes it is under warranty, I just need to take it in. I recently added a HMF pipe and a airforce kit, and Im dreading having to argue about receiving warranty coverage or not. The crazy thing to me is that is was running fine, turned it off using the key, and then all the sudden the motor can't turn. Nothing catastrophic but something major.

Chilly! Can you PLEASE try to remember where you saw that, I would REALLY like to know!
