Hey all,

I just came across a new issue with my Pred, or rather my girlfriend's 12 year old brother did. He was setting the parking brake after moving it in the garage, and the next thing you know he was holding his eye and saying he'd been sprayed! While he ran inside to rinse out his eye, I checked it out, and sure enough when you squeeze the lever fluid sprays out.

Turns out, the compression washers are allowing for a tiny amount of fluid to spray out between them where the stainless line connects to the lever. It is to the point now that the parking brake will not set and hold. I dread taking it to the dealer (oh boy), so I wanted to ask if anyone else has had any issues with this and might suggest something I might do rather than drop off my Pred at the shop?

Thanks,

Tim

Replace the sealing washers on each side of the line fitting, try the auto parts stores or a diesel pump rebuild shop for copper washers if it is indeed the washers. Is the banjo bolt tight?

Thanks for asking, Predman. :) His eye's doing fine, but it was really red there for about an hour or so.
