Sometimes when I'm jumping and get some moderate air off the ground I hear what sounds like a backfire POP. It only happens now and then, really strange. The predator runs great, no problems. I'm wondering if anyone else has heard this when they jump and or if anyone might have any ideas what it might be caused from? I'm usually in 3rd gear at the time. I should also add that the POP sounds while in the air.

The Pure Polaris pipe sometimes back fires when you hit rev limiter if you are not jetted right are you jetted or stock? I had same problem till I put in bigger jets.

Ny pipe will backfire if not jetted right. I would have to say jetting is the key to a pimp quad in terms of the predator

I have had the same problem. Mine pops when in the air while jumping, and when I let off the throttle to shift at high rpms. I am jetted now to a 160 main, and was thinking maybe I am too rich?? Any help would be great.

You show you moved your needle down one i belive they are saying to leave needle in stock place. I could not get it to run right with 160 so I bought the dyno jet kit at stage one it was perfect and no more poping

mdepdawg, we have basically the same bike setup. I have a different airbox mod, but they are all basically the same. The only difference is that you moved you needle clip down one notch. I left mine stock and jetted at 160. i am riding at altitudes between sea level and 2000'. I still have the popping issue at high RPMs but the air/fuel mix is spot on. i pulled the plug after riding for a day with this setup and the plug had the nice tan color tip which means its running just right. I think i just have to live with the popping because the mixture is more important to me. when it pops, I shift.

Razor, 80% of the 4-stroke quads and bikes that race our local track pop in mid air of a jump. when the hit the throttle to to bring the nose up they all have a pop or slight backfire. I don't know if thats normal, but I know that a lot of people have this issue.

Hey localbuzz why shift when it pops? Get that **** straightened out. That quad needs to be ridden to its fullest potential:)
