I am thinking of buying a new predator and turning over my 400 ex to my kids. In doing research on the Predator I noticed that it is 40 pounds heavier than my 400. Does anyone know where this xtra weight comes in? By looking at them they are relatively same deminsions.

for starters the ex is air cooled so it has no radiator, water pump, or hoses. side by side the pred does have a noticable size difference also! how about a more complicated valve train w/ dual cams. stuff does start adding up.

Beefier axel, steel swing arm. Yeah it may weigh more but overal its a better quad. It hangs with the rest of them with the etra weight.

cmc, the z-400 is liquid cooled and it is 2# lighter than the 400 ex.

Thanks for the thought predatorman7687. I guess you would have to also have to include the 4 ply razors vs the 2 ply radials too. Does anyone know if the overall thickness of the chassis tubing is any thicker? I think this is what the z-400 tried to cut weight and the result is frames and axles that bend.
