Hi guys new here and I thought you all would be the best place to get help. I have a 2005 Predator 500 motor that I have transplanted into a Joyner buggy. My issue is I am not getting spark.

I have not incorporated any of the Preddy wiring, it’s just the engine, CDI and voltage regulator. I have the factory plug for the CDI including the pigtail that came off it and went to other places on the quad.

As I understand it, make sure that the black wire from the CDI is not grounded. I have it cut off and striped back and I have it on a momentary switch to kill the motor. To confirm it will only go to ground if I press the button.
Furthermore looking at a wiring diagram from an 03 the CDI needs 12v hot.

My question is where do I get hot from? Do I get it from the stator Red or is off the battery with fuse? If I connect it to hot I should get spark correct? I do have a starter solenoid wired to the buggy key and I can get it to crank but with the plug out and grounded against metal I see no spark. I would appreciate any help you could give me.

Thanks in advance.
Cheers Bo
