In over my head

Bought a little 2001 Sportsman 90 that was in need of some mechanical work. Brakes, tie rods, etc... nothing too bad. Get the quad, it's a mess. Been sitting for 4 years, so all the rubber bits are dried I order some, not all to get going. That's going's easy...replace old with new.

Here's the kicker. After I made sure it wasn't seized ( I had drained the fluids) I put in new oil, new gas, new plug, new battery...and tried to start.

It turned, turned and turned without starting. Took the plug out....turned it spark. look at what's going on I started feeling around and looking at what wires go where.... power ANYWHERE. zero. Battery is charged, fuse appears good. WHAT AM I MISSING? nothing is unplugged etc.. if it had power before, what happened?

The handle bar kill switch is broken, but in the "ON" position, the safety switch appears to engage.....been playing around for a few hours and I come up with nothing....
