the cdi will not work with the 04 engine unless you re-wire the wiring harness to accept the newer cdi. the engine should bolt right up but i would find a stock 2003 2004 cdi if i was you until i could sell the 2005 vortex and buy a 2003 2004 vortex. splicing and re-wiring the wiring harness is a pain.

the 03 04 cdi will not be a direct plug in. you will have to do some re-wiring and splicing. if you find a 03 04 cdi and harness that would be the best way. you can make your 2005 harness and cdi work you will just have to do some re-wiring and splicing. i recomend downloading a 2003 service manual or wiring diagram and then a 2005 and compare the wiring harness and cdi wiring. that will tell you how much you would have to do either way.

Ok well i talked to hpd today and he assure me i could take all my ignition off and bolt them into the 04 motor. The reason i wanna do this is the 04 has a 600 kit cams ported etc full build. I just need to send out my bike for powdercoating and then paint my plastics. What carb do you think would be best for this setup i only have my stock jetted one

my favorite 3 carbs for big bore predators that i have run are as follows. the 41mm fcr carb, the 48mm hsr carb it is a mikuni pumper carb, then a 46mm lectron. all great carbs. i also like the 04 05 honda 450r carb. anything is better than the stock cv carb i do not like it.

the carbs can be sent about 10 different places to get it done well these days.

dave hopkins can do it. i believe he is djh from ktmatvhq.

sedrum is who deadman recommended.

Sedrum is the carb guru. Go to ktmatvhq.com, he has own section under like sponsors or whatever. I forget if he machines the bigger slides. I know Cut7 bored DJH's carbs for him, when he goes to 43.5.

copied his page...... his phone is 419 618 5982

The sizes I offer with the FCR's is 41mm,41.5mm,42mm,43mm,43.5mm and 44mm I can only make Yamaha/KTM FCR's 44mm Not the Honda models. And the 06 and up TRX FCR is best not to go above 43mm

And to get all the gain from a bigger FCR you'll need the head ported for it. You will see some gain with a stock head but nothing like if it is ported for the bigger FCR. If you have your head ported before getting your FCR bored make sure the porter knows how big your FCR will be. That way they can remove enough material from the intake tract to get all the gains from the bigger FCR.

Shipping,I need the complete FCR but not the throttle/hot start cables. If you want you can remove the vent hoses too but the hoses are'nt a big deal. Please include the rubber boot between the head and FCR and I'll trim it out to the FCR's new bore. Same goes with FCI Transtion rings. Any FCR with a Rat Stack or Noss can be bored as well.

Make sure to pack it up good so it can't move around and ect and thats it's not against the side of the box. The only thing I have seen break on them so far is the TPS sensor. So pack it up good and no worries.

I recommend you have a tracking number and insurance when shipping it to me. Right now I'm using UPS and get tracking numbers and I insure all FCR's for 400.00 dollars. If you send me a FCR and need me to sign for it no problem but I ask you to use UPS or USPS because Fed ex and DHL are to far to drive if I have to go to there centers to sign and pick it up. UPS and USPS are much closer for me.

I ask that you include a note in the box with your return address, contact info and the size you want the FCR to be machined to.

Payment,I perfer money orders because I don't have to wait and make sure the check is good. I also take paypal but there's fee's so it's not my first choice. Right now I don't take credit cards so please don't send me any card numbers and ect. If paying with a money order please put the MO in the box along with your return address, size and ect.

Here's the shipping address and my contact info plus prices. Thanks again everyone

41mm,41.5mm and 42mm 125.00 shipped

43mm shipped 235.00

43.5mm shipped 270.00

44mm shipped 300.00

Shipping address will be posted after my vacation

Paypal and email addy swiftimproved220@yahoo.com
Cell phone 419 618 5982

As some guys will see that my shipping address has changed but I still get packages at either address so don't worry either way.

Please keep in mind I don't check my email everyday but I will get back with you if you need more info or have questions. I do plan on going over the different size FCR's and what works the best with different mods to save some questions from being asked.

travis from thumper racing can have it done.

also walt i think his name is fastranchero64 on either ktmatvhq or ktmtalk.
