Fuel Pump removal???

I know there was an older thread on this topic..but only a few responses....so here goes..

Has anyone has negative results from removing their fuel pump??

I am running an edelbrock and run out of top end (can't even seem to hit the rev limiter flat out on pavement??)...could this be the issue or just that the Edy is a little small??? (jetting is correct)

Hum is your twist throttle adjusted right??? when I had first put the fcr on bike i had used a twist throttle im not sure how the edelbrock is made but the fcr has a bunch of places to hook the cable if you dont set it right it wont open the carb all the way. I have my pump off and i find it runns a lot better with out it.

I know a few people took off their pumps with the fcr carb and said that they actually got a performance increase. Some also said that you might have to richen up your main, and be carefull that the fuel level doesnt get too low.

Has anybody tried this on the stock carb?

Here's my 2cents...why take the pump off? Is it a weight savings deal? Are you looking to gain the vacuum lost to operate the pump? When I removed mine I had issues any time my tank got lower than half way...I took it off for weight and just to clean things up, but I have to run about 8lbs more gas in my fuel tank to keep the thing from running crappy. Maybe I'm nuts but that doesn't sound like a good weight savings plan so I put it back on and she's run fine since. I'm sure I could have messed with it to make it work, but to heck with it...its a runner

For me it has nothing to do with weight my Predator bogs down three-quarters of the way through every single gear and the immediate fix was the fuel pump we put a new one on it ran great for a few hard rides and today the bogging came back. bogs and Pops throughout every gear but I'm able to get through it, when I pin the throttle . will taking off the fuel pump fix this problem if I'm just by passing it completely. Shes got all new everything basically including carb . Local shops wont touch it complaining they ( predators ) have too many problems.
