Default Back from hibernating a year

Hey all,

Just to refresh everyone (if you recall) I was the guy who owned a 2006 Predator 500 TLD which has some minor goodies exhaust, intake, jets, sprockets. I always went out riding with my brother and his family; -'06 yfz450 (full mods), '06 kfx400 (full mods), '06 Blaster 200cc-. But there's always been that itch on who was faster... Predator vs. YFZ450

From day one my brother starting modding his quad to insure his was always the fastest. After my brother started doing his mods; exhaust, intake, jets, cam mod, etc... These mods made his quad WAKE UP!!! Yet, for the thrill of riding I took a video of some drag races which it seemed my Predator wasn't that much slower. -if you cant find my video I'll repost it-

After our racing I bite the bullet and did the same mods as his but my quad wasn't near the same speed, it actually felt slower then stock but had a nice sound HAHA. Well after a year owning my new quad it broke once I towed my nieces quad from the desert and mine start blowing smoke like a train! Well now its time for a 558cc BBK!

Well after spending over $800 bucks and after the second week into my newly upgraded quad it locks up!!! After my heart dropped from the sound of oil dripping from the bottom of the casing it seemed like something wanted to burst out. Yeah, **** you ROD! Tore the whole motor apart and it was toast!! One exhaust valve broke and fell into my cylinder, once the piston tried to compress the rod blew into 3-pieces. My cylinder head, piston, rod, crank, water pump gear (and externals) plus casing all seen a piece of the destruction. The only salvageable item was the transmission crazy enough.

So away from the old and in with the new! Took over a year for my pride to come back, plus finding a 440cc kit on Ebay made the quad come back alive. I actually started my quad up yesterday since over a YEAR!!!! Gosh I felt good.

So to close this novel, I'm just glad people are still representing Polaris even if it takes you over a year to get back into the action!

Thanks!
Kenneth K.

very cool ken. i am glad you are back up and running. that 440 kit did a good job at making power. the head was better proportioned than the 500 head and the cdi had great timing curves. i hope that machines runs real strong for you. leo

Thanks Leo! I have a question, I have the 440 cdi but I heard years ago that it couldnt be placed on the newer 05+ quads, unknowns why... I started it on the stock unit, should I install the newer CDI?

Ken.

You can't interchange the 03-04 CDI's on 05-07 machines because the plugs are different and the lack of the reverse limiter on the early CDI's really screws with things.

like nick said if it is a 2005 and newer 440 kit the cdi will work great for any 2005 and newer predator. if it is a 440 cdi for an 03 04 predator it will only work on the 03 04 predators. the harness plug in is totally different between the 2. either it fits and will work or it will not.
