Default 2005 Pred Stuck In 1st Gear

Hey guys. Had my pred running good, got it out yesterday to ride a little and now it is stuck in 1st gear. It will still move if I pull the clutch in. I think the shifter slipped off the tab that moves the tranny. Should this happen while the clutch and all is installed? I would think it wouldn't have a enough room to slide off. How can I keep this from happening?

I pulled the clutch cover and lined everything back up. Then installed 2 thick washers in behind the shift lever and bam...problem solved. No more moving in and out!
