Default Custom Rear Bumper for Sportsman XP

After getting my Sportsman XP, I knew I wanted the ATV Guru bumpers for it because the Polaris ones are kinda cheesy, and look pretty stupid.

But one thing I didn't like about the XP was the rear rack wasn't as deep as on my SP800. That severely limited my selection of cargo trunks. I didn't want the too-small Polaris one, and most of the others would end up hanging off the back.

I really wanted to attach the Kolpin fuel pack brackets so I could carry a fuel back behind the trunk, but again, with it hanging off the back, that wouldn't be possible.

Then I got to thinking. Those who know me that I'm dangerous when I start thinking.

I emailed John and Paul at ATV-Guru and discussed my idea with them. They were interested. I sent them one of the fuel pack brackets and some measurements. A couple of weeks passed, and they sent me photos of their prototype.

Here's the completed product on my Sportsman XP. Whaddaya think?

I'm going to come up with some designs for other accessories to mount to those fuel pack brackets... like a cooler holder for one thing.

I'm VERY impressed with the quality of the bumper and how well it fits. Plus their willingness to work with me was extremely cool. I hear they will start offering this as an option.

I didn't include it in the photo, but there's a knob with a metal plate that screws into the plastic part of the bracket that the pack slips over.

The newer Kolpin packs use a T-shaped deal that works well. The older packs like mine have the knob and plate setup.
