Air/Fuel screw

So my stock air screw fell out with the spring, washer, o-ring, alll if it.... I had an aftermarker adjustable screw that I bought from KTMHutt.com but ever since I put that in, I had the off-idle stumble that I never had. So, that being said, I stopped at the KTM dealer since it is closer that Polaris and picked up a stock screw for the 07 525. I put it in toninight and found that it is much longer and actually sticks out of the carb about 1/4" to where it could be adjusted, maybe.... I got it started after putting it back together and it fired right up, rode it around the yard, and no issues. The screw seemed to be correct, just longer to where it is not tucked up inside. I will let you know if it takes care of the stumble when I have the chance to get it nice and warmed up.

Yeah, the guy at the shop where I dyno'ed it and the KTM dealer said they have both seen it. I need to put something over the new screw so that I can guarantee it doesn't happen again!

My adjuster made mine run like CRAP. Stumble down low was unreal, and adjusting it never got rid of the miss. I put the stocker back in, at 2 turns out, and stumble was 100% gone. Its amazing how much that screwed me up.....I was changing the needle and everything all because of that stupid adjuster.

True story

I was loading my hybrid quad on my trailer forits much anticipated first trip to the dunes when it all of a sudden it dies as the front tires hit the trailer ramp. I had been warming it up in the back yard and the freaking aftermarket fuel screw I had bought from JD jetting fell out. And I did not have the stocker!!!! I thought I was done for. Called my local well stocked KTM dealer and low and behold not only did he have two of them on the shelve but he stayed open for an extra hour so I could get up there on my way up north to pick it up. They get all of my business now!!

And on my bike, the factory fuel screw made the bike run better down low too!

As much as I hate to say it, but yes, they suck! If you have the chance, take a close look at a factory fuel screw and any aftermarket one under a magnifying glass and you will see that the tips are not even close to being the same shape between the two. There is a big difference!

There are a few vendors out there that sell an add on tip, that is knurled, that is glued on to the factory fuel screw that will allow you to make on the fly adjustments if you feel you need to. But I have yet run into a situation where I have ever needed to adjust my fuel screw in the fieldafter setting it the first time.
