Howdy, so Ive recently purchased an 04 Sportsman 600. The ATV has not been started in over 2 years, so I am going through the motions in order to get Her running. The atv sat those 2 plus years with gas and oil still in the engine, and when I removed the carb, it was obvious that is was holding foul gas, so the carb is being rebuilt by a local atv shop. I've tested for fire and both plugs are firing as they should. I figure my next move is to re-attach gas tank with fresh fuel and cycle the engine over until the stale gas in the lines comes out, and fresh gas begins to circulate. But before flushing the fuel through the lines, should the oil and filter be changed so that the engine does not coat itself with the old oil that sat in the atv for 2 years? I cant decide which step I need to drain the old oil and replace with new. On one hand I know I need to run the engine for a few minutes before the oil change, on the other hand I can't run the engine until the fuel lines are flushed and carb reattached. I'm needing any input that would help me at this point. If anybody can offer a step by step approach, I'd greatly appreciate it. -Cheers>JDB
